The Alexis Gruss company comes from a couple that formed in 1868 with the marriage between Charles Gruss, who was initially a stonemason, and Maria Martinetti, who came from a family of horsemen and women and acrobats who had had their own circus tent since the 1850s. Gradually, the equestrian aspect of the family grew stronger and, in the fourth generation, Alexis Gruss’ name was made famous by founding the Cirque à l’Ancienne in 1974.

Our show is the fruit of a rigorous education, a faithful and respectful transmission and a daily solidarity with our family, our artists and our horses.
As a show creator, the Company creates links and strong emotions.
The Folies Gruss is an ideal venue for charity events and galas. The Princesse Margot association, the Fondation Jérôme Lejeune and the Apprentis d’Auteuil are all institutions that champion causes that are as important as any other. The Compagnie Alexis Gruss is fortunate to be able to welcome them and offer them artistic, musical and culinary performances, enabling them to offer their protégés and members unforgettable, unifying moments.
