The Compagnie Alexis Gruss was invited to the 50th anniversary of the Festival international du Cirque de Monte Carlo. This is the world’s largest international competition, bringing together the most talented artists from the four corners of the globe.
For this 46th edition, which ran from January 19 to 28 and attracted over 50,000 spectators, the Company’s artists were awarded the highest distinction of this prestigious event: the Clown d’Or.
The entire Folies Gruss team extends its congratulations to the Gruss family, and in particular to Charles and Alexandre Gruss, who won this prize thanks to the mythical tableau of juggling on horseback, a perfect symbol of the encounter between the world of equestrian arts and the world of acrobatic arts. This tableau is also a tribute to the family tradition that has been passed down through seven generations, and which has made the Compagnie Gruss so famous.
Today, the members of the Gruss family are the only French artists to have won the Clown d’Or, in addition to the two previous awards (Clown d’Argent in 1998 and Clown d’Or in 2001). Such a record of achievement is exceptional.
The Clown d’or awards, seen as the Oscars of the profession in the circus world, reward this big family this year!
